Shern grew up in Washington D.C. with a German speaking hippie mom, which meant a lot of skateboarding but summers at meditation ashrams, so of course he moved to Australia, to study philosophy and become a lawyer before he realized that he was really just a contrarian, which naturally lead him to Hong Kong where he shot canto-pop music videos and commercials all over Asia before making his way to New York and winning a bunch of awards like at Cannes and Berlinale for his stripped down story-telling and distinctive visual style.
When he’s not crafting stories for great brands, Shern can be found changing phone batteries for his friends or planning a motorbike trip through Patagonia that he swears he’ll get around to eventually, but he never travels without his climbing shoes, because he loves planning for all contingencies.
